Kurt Busch and Ashley Busch are divorcing, according to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports. After a little more than 5 years of marriage, NASCAR star Kurt Busch and his wife Ashley Busch are going their separate ways.
Kurt Busch said in a statement obtained by TMZ, “I am heartbroken to confirm that my wife Ashley and I are working to dissolve our marriage.” Divorce is a private and personal matter, and I hope our privacy is respected.”
Kurt Busch of Mooresville, North Carolina, is a 23XI Racing driver. He has 34 career wins, according to NASCAR. Ashley Busch, formerly Ashley Van Metre, is a Virginia native who was named a global brand ambassador for the United States Polo Association in 2017. The two appeared on the 2019 reality show Racing Wives.
According to TMZ, Ashley Busch filed for divorce in Florida on May 9. According to the documents, Kurt “committed a tortious act” and their marriage is “irretrievably broken.” Kurt Busch allegedly cut her off from their joint bank accounts and cards after problems arose in the relationship in April.
Ashley filed for divorce in Florida earlier this month, claiming that her marriage was “irreparably broken.” She also claimed in her filing that her now-ex-husband “committed a tortious act.” Ashley, who married Kurt in January 2017, did not go into specifics about the accusation.
The 2017 Daytona 500 winner and the Virginia native recently achieved their wedding anniversary, with Ashley pouring over the occasion in a February Instagram post. “Five years ago we were married on this special island, St Barths you have our hearts,” she captioned a romantic photo of Kurt gazing into her eyes as she leaned against a wall.
