During the sixth and final week of testimony in the contentious trial between Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard, model Kate Moss, who dated Johnny Depp from 1994 to 1998, testified briefly from Gloucester, England, on Wednesday morning. She refuted Heard’s earlier testimony, in which he claimed Depp once pushed Moss down the stairs on a trip to Jamaica.
As per Kate Moss’s testimony, kate rejected the allegations made by Amber Heard about Johnny Depp pushing Kate Moss down the stairs.
On Wednesday, Kate Moss gave a three-minute video deposition in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial, denying a rumor that Depp pushed her down a flight of stairs when they were dating in the 1990s.
Moss was asked by Depp’s lawyer, Benjamin Chew if anything had happened while they were on vacation at the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica. To Which Moss replied, “We were leaving the room, and Johnny left the room before me, and it was raining.” “I slid down the stairs as I left the room and hurt my back.”
“I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention,” she added.
Depp didn’t push Moss down the stairs, according to Moss. “No,” Moss said when asked if he pushed her in that direction at any point during their relationship. Moss was not cross-examined by Heard’s attorneys, and she was free to leave.
Depp’s legal team summoned Moss, who seemed ecstatic when her name was mentioned by Heard during her testimony when she resurrected the rumor that Depp had pushed her down a flight of stairs.
Later in the trial, Depp took the stand to refute some of Heard’s earlier testimony. Heard’s claim that Depp took a handful of ecstasy pills during a trip to Australia in 2015 was one of them.
Depp took the stand for the first time since late April, wearing darkened lenses on his glasses at times. He told the same story as Moss. “In her mind, Ms. Heard took the story and turned it into a very ugly incident,” he said. “There was never a time when I pushed Kate down a stairwell.”
The case is expected to be presented to the jury by the weekend. The members have been appointed to determine whether either member of the former couple’s reputation has been harmed by false statements about their tumultuous relationship. In order to do so, jurors must decide whether either side presented credible evidence of abuse.
Mr. Depp filed a defamation suit against Ms. Heard in an attempt to clear his name of allegations of domestic abuse leveled against him, which he denies. Ms. Heard has filed a countersuit, alleging that Mr. Depp defamed her when his former lawyer called her domestic abuse allegations a “hoax.”
Ms. Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse,” prompting Mr. Depp to file suit. Despite the fact that she did not name her ex-husband, he and his lawyers argue that she was clearly referring to their relationship.
