Google is increasing its sensitive ad category options, letting its users choose how many ads they want to see about dating, pregnancy, parenting, and weight loss. This feature was implemented for the users in order to reduce the number of advertisements they want to see on YouTube that promote potentially addictive gambling or alcoholic products. but now Google is expanding it to cover other potentially uncomfortable or traumatic subjects such as weight loss & parenting etc.
How To Change Your Personal Ad Setting For Fewer Ads On Google
To access the request fewer ads feature, go to your Ad Settings page and scroll to “Sensitive ad categories on YouTube.” From there, you can click the “See Fewer” button next to whatever categories you prefer.
As Per Gooogle “If you don’t want to see ads for these categories, let us know. We’ll do our best to limit ads that feature them when you are signed in to your Google Account on YouTube. You may still see ads that refer to these categories when searching for or viewing related content”

Ad categories selection on YouTube settings currently only applies when you are signed in to your Google Account.
Upon clicking on the see fewer option, the page will warn you “You should see fewer ads for this category when you are signed in to your Google Account on YouTube. This won’t change the total number of ads you see”.

Click On Continue and you are good to go.
Google uses sophisticated machine learning techniques to personalize ads based on user preference. Google is one of many ad networks that personalize ads based on your activity online. By giving users an option about their preference on certain topics, it’s giving its users more control about what they want to see as ads. Hennessy, the product manager for ads also said that Google will “continue to listen to user feedback and study which categories to expand this feature to in the future.”
If you want to remove the ad personalization, you can do so in your Ad Setting Dashboard. Just turn off the Ad personalization setting.
Google also has a guide to Control the ads you see. The Sensitive ad categories on YouTube setting is still in Beta and You may still see ads that refer to these categories when searching for or viewing related content. However Google will keep improving these advertising choices and its advertising platform to cater to publishers, advertisers, and customer needs.
